The El Cajon Animal Shelter is a 14,703 square foot facility with exterior yards and outdoor kennels on a 2.64-acre site. The building includes administrative offices, housing for animals, veterinary services for sick and injured animals at the facility, grooming areas, indoor play/interaction areas and pet adoption services.  The new shelter doubled the size of the former 50-year-old shelter, located nearby at 1275 N. Marshall Avenue.
